Big Six & Code Hub

Big Six & Code Hub

Two connected projects — The Big Six is a suite of six interactive CS lessons covering the full stack, and Code Hub is the RPG game level that brings three of those lessons to life through hands-on terminals and arcade quiz games.

Backend Terminal: Live REST API simulator (GET/POST/PUT/DELETE) and API Architect challenge
Dataviz Terminal: Filtering, pagination, JPQL query builder, and Query Quest challenge game
Space Invaders: Shoot wrong answers, let correct ones pass — one arcade game per terminal

About

An RPG game level inside the CS Pathway where students walk up to three robot terminals. Each terminal teaches a core CS discipline — Markdown & CSS, REST APIs, and data filtering — with interactive tools and a Space Invaders quiz that gates progression to the next terminal. Complete all three challenges to earn the Code Hub Mastered badge.

Impact

Teaches Markdown, CSS, REST APIs, and data querying in a hands-on game environment
Progressive unlock system ensures students master each topic before advancing
Arcade-style quiz games make assessment engaging rather than passive
LocalStorage persistence means students can return and continue where they left off
Integrated into the CS Pathway RPG — learning feels like playing, not testing
