What We Built
Changes Across the Site
Changes Made (Click on the blue headers to view)
Members can now create and share blog posts with images, making it easy to share stories and updates with the community.
Choose a sprite to represent yourself in the community garden, which saves your choice and shows everyone's sprites when you visit. A real-time chat system โ built with WebSockets โ lets users send and receive messages instantly, fostering conversation and community right in the garden. Donors are rewarded with the ability to place a new emoji in the garden, giving supporters a visible, lasting mark in the shared space and creating an ongoing incentive to give.
The contact form saves your messages securely, allowing us to respond to your inquiries and requests for those who want to get involved or help. It also displays a calendar with upcoming events.
The program finder uses engaging interactive tools like sliders, bucket toss, and card sorting to help you discover the best program match based on your needs and priorities.
Program cards on the home page now feature concise descriptions, making it easier to quickly understand and choose the right program.
An admin panel has been added to allow for easier management and updates of program information. It also allows admins to approve user requests to become a volunteer.

What's Next on the Roadmap
Social Media Embeds on the Blog Page
Since SIP Poway is very active on both Instagram and Facebook, embedding live feeds directly into the blog page of the prototype would let visitors see the latest posts and updates without leaving the site โ keeping the community informed and the page feeling fresh at all times.
Program-Specific Private Chat Channels
Expanding the Community Garden's WebSocket chat into dedicated private channels for each program (e.g. Live Your Dream, STAT!, Transitional Housing) would let users connect with others who share their specific interests and circumstances โ building deeper, more meaningful peer communities around each cause.
Donation Rewards in the Community Garden
To encourage ongoing giving, donors would unlock the ability to permanently place a new emoji or sprite into the shared garden โ turning each donation into a visible, lasting contribution to the community space. Tiered rewards (e.g. a flower for $10, a tree for $50) would give supporters both recognition and a reason to keep coming back.
