Student capstone · In development. This project explores a student-built continuation of the Safe Passage Heals prototype. It is not an official Safe Passage Heals product or replacement for the organization’s existing services.

Safe Passage Heals · 2026–2027
Media management and recovery tools

A continuation of the Safe Passage Heals project focused on organizing community media and events while providing an interactive experience for exploring the recovery process.

Experience: discover → explore → manage → learn → revisit

Project focus: media management, community events, recovery information, and an interactive recovery simulation.

Core experience

Four connected parts of the Safe Passage Heals experience, from managing community information to exploring the recovery process.

01 · Manage media

Organize project media and information through tools designed to make community content easier to maintain and revisit.

02 · Explore events

Present community events and updates in a centralized experience so users can discover relevant information.

03 · Recovery simulation

Explore an interactive simulation representing stages of the recovery process and the decisions someone may encounter.

04 · Revisit information

Connect media, events, and recovery information into one experience that users can return to as they explore the site.

From problem to product direction

Why we are building it
Current challenge

The original Safe Passage Heals prototype combines an event calendar, media/news information, and an interactive path to recovery experience. V2.0 builds on that foundation by organizing these experiences into a clearer system.

Project direction

Expand the original prototype with media management tools, community event information, and a more connected interactive recovery experience.

System flow

A connected view of how the main parts of the project fit together.

One connected project workflow
1 · User interface

The frontend provides the pages and interactive experiences users interact with.

2 · Media + events

Community media and event information are organized into accessible sections of the application.

3 · Backend

Backend services are planned to support project data and management features as development continues.

4 · Recovery experience

The interactive recovery simulation connects the educational experience to the rest of the project.

The goal is a connected experience where media, events, management tools, and the recovery simulation work together instead of feeling like separate pages.

Technical foundation

Frontend

A web-based frontend for the Safe Passage Heals project, including project pages, media, events, and interactive experiences.

Backend

A backend system is planned for handling project data and management functionality. The backend repository is currently a placeholder while development continues.

Media management

Tools for organizing and maintaining project media and community information.

Interactive experience

An interactive recovery simulation builds on the original Safe Passage Heals experience and presents the recovery process as an explorable web experience.

V1.0 → V2.0

V1.0 · Original prototype

The original project introduced an event calendar, media/news content, and an interactive path to recovery experience.

V2.0 · Expanded system

The new version focuses on media management tools, community events, a connected recovery simulation, and a clearer full-stack project structure.

Project goal

Building a more connected experience
V2.0 direction

Build a clearer system for managing Safe Passage Heals media and community information while making the recovery simulation easier to explore and connect with the rest of the project.

Long-term goal

Continue developing the project as a full-stack capstone while keeping the user experience organized, accessible, and connected.
