Friends of Poway Seniors is a 501(c)(3) supporting seniors and marginalized communities in Poway. The 2025–2026 team rebuilt the site with simplified navigation, an AI chatbot, interactive Bingo, an ML event predictor, and volunteer signup. We start from that build: fix what stops an older adult from using the site today, then add three systems across the year that give people a reason to come back. Team Triple T — Chetan Tiduwar, Aaditya Prem, Kashyap Tubati.

Strengths vs Improvement
Navigation

Cut from 7+ nested dropdowns to three top-level links, with Donate always visible.

Home Page
Debug Text in Production

The Bingo page shows visitors "API Ready · Bingo Volunteer API is running!" — a developer message displayed to seniors.

Bingo Page
Interactive Layer

75-ball Bingo with an auto-caller, a 24/7 chatbot, and an ML event predictor already ship on the site.

Accessibility for the Audience

Body text, buttons, and tap targets are standard size for a site whose users are older adults. The chat bubble is an unlabeled icon.

Immediate Changes

Shippable in the first two weeks, before the bigger build starts.

Area Before After
Bingo status banner “API Ready · Bingo Volunteer API is running!” shown to every visitor Debug message removed; page opens on the game and the volunteer form
Text and tap targets Standard sizes for an audience of older adults Larger base font and buttons, verified at 200% browser zoom
Chat assistant Unlabeled floating icon, mouse only Visible label, keyboard reachable, states what it helps with
Volunteer signup No explanation of the commitment, no confirmation after submit Plain-language explainer above the form and a clear confirmation
Events pages Visitor must open the predictor to learn what’s happening Real upcoming dates listed on the page

The Year Ahead

Three systems, one owner each, built across four quarters.

Three Systems, One Owner Each
Scam Defense Trainer

Paired scenarios — a real message beside a scam version of the same thing. The player decides whether to trust it, then taps the part that gave it away. Every round names the red flag, and scam types a player keeps missing come back more often.

Q1 · Chetan

Digital and Multiplayer Bingo

A large-print solo game with a speaking auto-caller, then multiplayer: room codes, one shared caller keeping every board in sync, and reconnection without losing your card. Connected to the real weekly games at Mickey Cafagna Community Center.

Q2–Q3 · Kashyap

Movement Games and Accessibility

Seated exercises turned into scored games using only a webcam — head-nod and reach-and-tap, tracking range and repetitions. Plus read-aloud mode and accessibility settings that persist between visits.

Q4 · Aaditya

Privacy. All webcam processing happens in the browser. No video is uploaded, stored, or sent anywhere, and the site says so before the camera turns on. Exercises are seated by default with a stop button always visible.

Work Distribution

Each of us owns one system for the year, and one algorithmic problem inside it.

Person System Algorithmic feature
Chetan Tiduwar — Scrum Master/Developer Scam Defense Trainer Adaptive difficulty — tracking missed scam types and resurfacing them on a spaced schedule
Kashyap Tubati — Technologist/Developer Bingo, solo then multiplayer Real-time state sync — one shared caller, every board consistent, reconnection without data loss
Aaditya Prem — Technologist/Developer Movement games, accessibility layer Head-movement detection — turning webcam face-landmark coordinates into counted, scored repetitions

Each phase ends with something that works on its own rather than a piece waiting on the next quarter, and we test with real users before moving on.
