Oncology and Kids
Capstone project creating an interactive and educational website for cancer patients and families, with community support, learning modules, and games.
Student capstone · In development. This project aims to create a more engaging, supportive, and educational digital experience for cancer patients and their families. It is a student-built concept and is not a medical platform or official cancer-care service.
This capstone project is designed to make cancer education and support more accessible, interactive, and welcoming. The goal is to help patients and families learn about cancer in an easier way while also creating a space for connection, play, and encouragement.
Experience: learn → connect → explore → play → feel supported
Project focus: educational modules, community support, mood check-ins, interactive games, reading level filters, risk education, and a kid-friendly learning experience.
From problem to product direction
Many cancer resources are difficult to navigate, overly text-heavy, or not designed to feel welcoming for younger patients. Kids with cancer often need a space that is both informative and emotionally supportive.
Build a more engaging and inclusive website that combines education, community support, and interactive play in a way that feels friendly, understandable, and empowering.
Core features
Create a welcoming space for kids and families to feel connected, supported, and less isolated while navigating cancer treatment and recovery.
Offer a simple daily mood check-in so users can share how they are feeling and connect with others in a supportive, low-pressure way.
Include puzzles, memory activities, and playful educational tools that make the experience more enjoyable and interactive.
Organize information by age or reading level so kids, teens, and parents can access content that is easier to understand.
