Week 24: Capstone Defense — Presentation of Project Portfolio

PLTW Element M, Iteration 2 — Presentation of Project Portfolio, as the Capstone’s final defense.

Package the Final Technical Portfolio

Your portfolio now spans both iterations. Package it so an outside evaluator can navigate it in minutes:

  • Repo (code, commit history, Kanban board/Issues as your Engineering Journal).
  • Docs (problem statements, PRDs — Sprint 1 and revised, decision matrices, FMEA, BOMs).
  • Testing logs (Alpha and Beta, plus the Week 21 comparative analysis).
  • Both N@tM (Week 12) and this defense’s materials, plus your Element L (Week 23) recommendations.

Finalize the Expo Multimedia Display

  • Build a venture-style display: treat this like pitching a startup or product, not just a school project — problem, solution, evidence it works, what’s next.
  • Live demo the Beta if at all possible; a working demo beats slides.

Deliver the Capstone Defense

  • Present to the panel of judges: problem justification, both design iterations, evidence (comparative data, UAT results), and your Element L recommendations/roadmap.
  • Be ready for questions that probe the why behind decisions across both iterations — panelists will likely ask about the Trimester 1 → Trimester 2 pivot specifically.

Core Deliverables

  • Complete, packaged technical portfolio (both iterations).
  • Venture-style expo multimedia display.
  • Delivered Capstone defense to the judging panel.
